We Day 2016
***Post written by Patrick M.
Aaah…We Day. It was last week, on Thursday, November, 3, 2016. So listen up and I’ll tell you about the wonders of We Day.
We Day is a celebration of youth making a positive difference in their local and global communities. It is a powerful life-changing event that combines the energy of a live concert with the inspiration of extraordinary stories of leadership and change. We Day brings together world-renowned speakers and award winning performers to entertain and inspire the thousands of youth at the events. This year, there were celebrities such as famous Canadian You-tuber Lilly Singh (Superwoman), lead singer of Hedley Jacob Hoggard, comedian Jusreign, and even the current PM’s mother, Margaret Trudeau. And of course, Craig and Marc Kielburger, the founders of Free the Children and the We Day movement, were there to inspire us all.
But really, it’s not about the popular performers and speakers, or even the delicious food and beverages. The main point of We Day is to unite us all as one group. And it doesn’t matter what race, skin colour, religion, ethnicity, culture, etc. you are. I say this because those words are just labels, and you are more than just a label (as I learned from speaker Annie Bartlett). So if we come together as one united group, from Me to We, we can continue to make a positive difference in our ever-growing world.
And that my friends, is what We Day is all about.
