Meet Ms. Ellis

We thought it would be a great idea to start out the new year by introducing you to some of our wonderful staff. First up is Ms. Ellis, our amazing Vice-Principal! Ms. Ellis took some time out of her busy day to answer some of our questions:

Q: What schools have you worked at?

A: I worked for the Burnaby School District for 18 years, then at SFU for two, and T.E. Scott is the first Surrey school I have been at.

Q: What grades have you taught?

A: As a teacher I taught the littlest kids…I taught a multi-age class (K/1/2) for the longest time. This was special because the students would stay in my classroom for three years! At SFU, I taught adult learners.

Q: Have you always wanted to be a teacher/principal?

A: No – although when I started teaching I realized that I had found the job for me! I loved it from the beginning.

Q: Where is the best place you have ever visited?

A: I have been all over Europe, lived in Ireland for a bit, travelled across Canada and the United States, visited Japan…

Q: What activities do you like to do in your spare time?

A: I love to hang out with my family and friends, read books, explore, take photos, do yoga, play games, go to movies, dance – as long as I am with people I love, I like to do anything! Lol.

Q: If you could hop on a plane and go anywhere, where would you go?

A: I have always wanted to explore the rainforests of Brazil or go on an African animal safari. Imagine the pictures you would take!

Q: Do you have any children?

A: Yes. Niamh is 14 and in Grade 9. She is an acro dancer. Finn is 11 and in Grade 5 and he is a soccer player.

Q: Is there anything else that you’d like the T.E. Scott community to know about you?

A: I have learned to love soccer (it is the one sport I didn’t play as a kid). I have been my son’s soccer coach for the last 4 1/2 years.

Q: What is your favourite food?

A: Fresh bread (out of the oven) with butter! Or maybe butter chicken and naan. :-)
