Bulldog Bulletin #1
To our new families and our returning families…. welcome to the 2017 – 2018 school year at TE Scott. We are growing, in the last 2 days 18 new students have registered … and our week has just begun. School start up can be an unsettling time for some children whether they are starting new to TE Scott or returning after a summer break to see friends and teachers they are familiar with. Parents please be on the lookout for signs your child is scared or anxious about school … increase in stomach issues, trouble sleeping and loss of appetite are possible side effects. The following few suggestions will help ALL our students have a smooth transition back to school next week:
- parents it is important to validate fears and anxious feelings about the start of school… talk …. reassure… (not you’ll get over it!)
- Start early to bed routines now, a good nights sleep is … HUGE!
- Practice morning routines… getting ready for school and leaving the house with enough time to get to school by 8:30, at that time your child will be able to line up with the rest of their class to begin the day
Back to school can be a stressful time for parents too. It is important to take care of your health. Try not to take on more commitments than the family can handle. Please know that we are here to help… call the school or drop by anytime if you have any questions or concerns.
Tuesday, September 5th – all students Kindergarten to grade 7 one hour only 10 – 11am
Kindergarten children and their parents will meet in the gym for attendance… your time will most likely be shorter and you will be given more detailed instructions for the gradual entry next week.
Grades 1 thru 7 please check out the maps posted below and posted on the outside doors for where you will line up and meet for our first day.
This is an important hour for us as we need to determine our total student count for class organizations… more info to follow next week … if your child(ren) are unable to make it on Tuesday please call the school (604 596 – 0357) to let us know so we can save your child’s spot!
